THE HOUSE OF VENAKKI brings together spirit, leaf, scent, form and hospitality. Each discipline has its own materials and methods; VENAKKI authorship gives the work its governing intention.

Composition is the deliberate relationship between elements and proportions. Across the House, it provides a common working language. Character is the test of the result.

Material integrity

The work begins with attention.

Material integrity means fidelity to materials and to the quality of their treatment. The grain of wood, the structure of leaf, the evolution of scent and the weight of an object each ask for a different kind of judgment.

Craft gives that judgment physical form. Through use and ritual, a creation takes its place in someone’s life. Continuity allows the House’s authorship to develop across creations and generations.

The Founder

A life shaped by craft and travel.

Jay Venakki’s early work in fashion and his lasting devotion to food, whisky, spirits and cigars have shaped the House’s creative direction. Living and working across cultures brought a respect for regional excellence, the character of place and knowledge passed from hand to hand.

His approach begins with the integrity of raw materials and the potential of a composition. Patience, selection and refinement give the work its direction.

The House carries that intention across its disciplines: creations shaped with care, considered in their proportions and made to acquire meaning through use.
