The business, explained simply

It begins here.

Jay Venakki, Founder and President of The House of Venakki

A word from our founder

Welcome to the House.

Venakki is not the result of a business plan alone, but the natural expression of a life shaped by craft, travel, and discernment. It reflects a personal and professional journey formed across continents and cultures, informed by an early career in fashion and a lasting devotion to food, wine, spirits, cigars and epicurean life.

Through years of living and working among diverse traditions, I developed a deep respect for regional excellence, for the character of place, the integrity of raw materials, and the quiet knowledge passed from hand to hand. The sharing of what the earth yields, shaped by patience and human care, has always been at the center of my work.

Every Venakki creation is therefore born of personal selection and oversight, using only ingredients and batches chosen for their character, balance, and potential. I hold an unwavering belief that truly superior products demand time, restraint, and respect for tradition, and that excellence cannot be rushed.

Crafting refined expressions from simple, natural elements has become both my discipline and my joy, guided by a single standard: excellence.

It is my privilege to share this pursuit with those who value discernment, authenticity, and the quiet pleasures of life, the imprint of soil, sun, rain, and the subtle aromas of the earth itself. Behind every Venakki creation stand real people, real hands, and a commitment of both Art & Heart.

01

Origin

The House began with a still.

In 2012, VENAKKI began working as a distillery. Fourteen years later, in the heart of Portugal, the origin is no longer theoretical: there are real casks, real bottled products, regulated production, technical knowledge, commercial relationships and repeated independent recognition, namely by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.

The importance of those fourteen years is not merely age. They created judgement. Distilling teaches precision; maturation teaches patience; blending teaches proportion; scarcity teaches restraint; regulation teaches discipline; and placing your own name on a bottle teaches accountability.

Whisky is unusually unforgiving of impatience. Money is spent years before the best liquid is ready to return it. You cannot create a ten-year-old reserve in year ten if you did not have the foresight to fill the cask in year zero. That simple fact became one of the House’s deepest instincts: time is not a delay to be eliminated. Properly governed, time is an asset.

Planning reference · Future capacity

VENAKKI's planned future annual whisky production remains purposefully small: around 400 casks, equivalent to fewer than 150,000 bottles of 0.7L at 50% ABV before maturation losses, cask selection and stock deliberately held back for older releases. The next stage increases capacity and output, but not by changing the economic model. Quality, exclusivity, genuine scarcity and price integrity - not industrial volume - are intended to drive profit.

A development intention from the source document, not current output or a guaranteed production forecast.

THE FOUNDING WORKSHOP

The Distillery is the workshop that proved the House could make something difficult, wait for it, judge it, present it and improve it. The next stage is the considered development of the remaining divisions.

That is why VENAKKI can now expand without pretending to be born complete. The House starts from proof, and asks capital to deepen what already works, not to manufacture credibility from nothing.

Established foundation

The Distillery and its bottled products are the House’s operating foundation. The other disciplines and Embassy programme described here form its development direction; their imagery does not imply that all products or locations are already available.

02

Authorship

Before there was a House, there was already a language.

THE FOUNDER DID NOT SEPARATE PRODUCT FROM PRESENTATION

The Founder’s role was never confined to liquid. From the beginning, the identity around the liquid was also authored: names, bottle forms, labels, packaging, typography, copy, visual language and the way the work was presented.

That matters because Craft & Creation was present before the phrase existed. The same eye that judged proportion in a blend also judged proportion in a bottle. The same refusal to release a cask before it was ready became a refusal to accept packaging, objects or environments that were merely adequate.

CRAFT & CREATION

Creation decides what should exist. Craft accepts responsibility for how well it exists.

This is the central reason the House can move across disciplines with congruence and coherency. The disciplines are not held together by a marketing department trying to invent a common story after the fact. They are held together by an authorial standard that preceded them.

The long-term task is not to make the institution dependent on one man’s hands. It is to convert that sensibility into doctrine, teams, archives, systems and succession, so future generations can extend the House without turning it into imitation.

Institutional continuity

The Founder is not the product.

The institution’s task is to preserve and develop that standard.

03

Sensory composition

Spirit. Leaf. Scent.

Whisky begins with agricultural material and becomes something greater through fermentation, distillation, wood, time, selection and composition. A fine cigar begins with soil and leaf, then curing, fermentation, ageing, selection and blending. Perfume begins with aromatic materials, extraction, concentration, proportion and the judgement of what should remain in the air after the wearer has passed.

Different crafts. Strikingly similar instincts.

THE COMMON GRAMMAR

Natural materials.

Transformation. Time. Selection. Blending. Aroma. Flavour. Texture. Memory. Pleasure.

VENAKKI TABACALERA is intended to extend the House into leaf: handmade cigars, long-aged tobacco and compositions built as deliberately as a whisky.

VENAKKI ALCHEMIST is intended to extend it into scent: compositions that can be intimate, atmospheric, collectible and remembered long after the first encounter.

The planned alcohol-free drinks portfolio follows the same principle. It is not an apology for what has been removed; it is another exercise in botanical composition, adult ritual and sensory intensity.

The point is not that the same patron must buy everything. The point is that the House can speak credibly across several forms of pleasure without abandoning its central competence: taking raw material, time and human judgement and composing them into something more complex than the ingredients themselves.

Venakki Atelier

Then comes the object in the hand.

A gentleman interacts every day with objects that have been quietly cheapened by industrial logic: pens, lighters, cutters, belts, gloves, luggage, desk pieces, cases, instruments. Too many are designed around replacement cycles, cost engineering or visual novelty rather than permanence.

The Atelier begins with a contrary question: what if an everyday object were designed to be worth keeping for a lifetime, and perhaps worth handing on?

THE ATELIER PRINCIPLE

Beautiful utility, precise function, repairability where possible, and build quality that makes obsolescence feel vulgar.

The Atelier is therefore another expression of the same House instinct. A whisky must feel complete before it is released. A cigar must draw correctly and burn as intended. A pen must sit correctly in the hand; a lighter must work with satisfying certainty; a travel object must become better through use rather than reveal how cheaply it was made.

Here Craft & Creation becomes permanent matter. The consumable expressions disappear beautifully; the object remains.

That permanence has strategic meaning. It allows VENAKKI to live with a patron between bottles, dinners and journeys, not by forcing a logo into everyday life, but by earning a place there through usefulness and quality.

The business model

One House. Different rhythms.

In commercial terms

The established activity is the sale of whisky and spirits through trade relationships and direct customer channels. The development plan extends product sales into leaf, scent and objects, with selective hospitality envisaged through the Embassy.

These activities have different stock cycles and capital requirements. Mature whisky requires money and time before release; other creations may allow more frequent replenishment. Their future economics, timing and capital needs must be tested in the financial model.

A HOUSE DOES NOT REQUIRE EVERY DISCIPLINE TO BEHAVE LIKE THE SAME BUSINESS

Whisky gives VENAKKI authority, scarcity and long-duration value. Cigars and scent create recurring rituals. The Atelier creates durable cultural objects. Alcohol-free compositions widen the occasions in which the House can be present. Distribution creates reach. The Embassy creates depth.

The system is intentionally asymmetric in speed, but consistent in scale discipline. One expression may mature for decades; another may reorder every month. Across them all, production remains controlled enough for judgement to matter. Cigars are made in limited runs; fragrances in deliberate editions; Atelier objects in numbered production, commissions and lifetime pieces; Embassies remain few. Small batch is not a product descriptor at VENAKKI. It is an institutional operating principle.

THE SMALL-BATCH ECONOMIC INSTINCT

Make relatively little. Make it properly. Let quality justify price. Let genuine scarcity create exclusivity and privilege. Increase capacity without crossing the point where attention is diluted.

This is where the House differs from a conventional brand-extension strategy. It is not asking how many categories can carry the VENAKKI name. It is asking which forms genuinely deepen the same world, and whether each earns the right to exist.

The commercial ambition follows naturally: not to sell more things to everyone, but to become more meaningful to a smaller number of discerning patrons. Selective distribution provides sufficient global reach; controlled production protects rarity, price integrity and the privilege of access.

The financial model and its assumptions are available for discussion through the private diligence process.

Venakki Embassy

Where the House is experienced.

An Embassy is not simply a private club, a bar, shop, cigar lounge, hotel or retail showroom. It is the physical environment in which the several expressions of the House are finally allowed to make sense together.

Whisky is tasted in the context chosen for it. A cigar is paired rather than stacked on a shelf. Scent is discovered rather than reduced to a tester strip. An Atelier object is placed in the hand. Food, light, sound, privacy, service and conversation complete what no label or website can communicate.

WHY THIS MATTERS

For people who can buy almost anything, the scarce commodities are increasingly context, trust, privacy, access, time and genuine human attention.

The Embassy converts product recognition into relationship. It gives the House a place to receive patrons on its own terms, without surrendering presentation to the noise of a conventional retail environment.

THE EMBASSY

A rare institution of encounter, established only where the House, the place and the patron community justify permanence.

Investment & strategic participation

Capital, with a long-term purpose.

The next stage is not about inventing a luxury House from zero. It is about giving a proven origin enough stock, capability, distribution, creative depth and selective physical presence to become an institution.

Capital can deepen whisky reserves that cannot be recreated later; professionalise systems and leadership; activate cigars, perfumery and atelier work without forcing premature scale; and establish the first Embassy only when the operating, patron and capital case is strong enough.

WHAT CAPITAL MUST NEVER DO

Force young stock out of cask. Turn scarcity into volume. Make an Embassy open before it is ready. Replace judgement with schedule. Dilute the House to satisfy an investor’s preferred exit clock.

The right investor is therefore not simply able to invest. The right investor understands stewardship: patient capital, long horizons, disciplined governance and the possibility of contributing to something intended to become more important to the next generation than to the present one.

WHAT COMES NEXT

A private conversation can lead to the Investor Catalogue — Philosophy, followed by the Financials Catalogue and a review of the model, its assumptions and the proposed terms of participation.

THE HOUSE OF VENAKKI is not presenting a finished institution. It is presenting fourteen years of proof, a coherent authorial system and a credible opportunity to build something much harder than a brand: a multi-generational House of Craft & Creation capable of outliving its Founder for generations to come.
